Documents Required

1. A valid original passport which has more than 6 months left before it expires from the date of application and sufficient blank visa pages. Pages for endorsements or amendments can not be used as a visa page.
2. One completed Visa Application Form with a recently-taken passport photo stuck on it and another passport photo attached to the visa application form. All the items on the application form should be completed neatly with genuine information. If the applicant has a Chinese name, the Chinese name should be filled in. (Application for an applicant under 18 years of age should be signed by one of his or her parents or lawful guardian, family certificate is also required).
3. Photocopy of personal data page of applicant's passport.
4. First time applicant is required to submit evidence of funds to cover expenses in China, e.g. original bank deposit certificate etc.
5. An applicant holding a passport other than a passport of the Republic of Albania should provide original and a copy of his or her permanent residence and work permit (if available) which should be valid for at least half a year. Employment letter or Confirmation letter issued by an Albanian company.
6. Former Chinese citizens applying for Chinese visas with a newly issued/renewed foreign passport for the first time should also provide the original Chinese passport, or both original and photocopy of the foreign passport before renewal with all records of Chinese visas on it. Should the applicant's name shown in the above documents are not identical, please provide official certificates.
7. A child of Chinese origin, applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, is required to provide birth certificate (original and copy) and either of his or her parents' passport.

Additional Documents:

A. Tourist and family visit visa (L visa )
(1)A "Invitation Letter for Tourist" form (Original not needed) issued by a duly authorized tourism unit in China.
(2)A copy of hotel booking;
(3)A copy of outward and return flight ticket booking;
(4)Applicants applying for special tour to China should provide a visa notification form issued by China National Tourism Administration or the tourism administration of related province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government. Special tour includes self-driving, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, hot air balloon, or other expeditions.
(5)The following applicants may apply for a multiple entry (L) visa, valid for six months or one year: Applicants who can provide documents to prove that they have spouse, children, or parents who are Chinese citizens residing in China; Applicants who have purchased real estate under their own name in China. The original and a copy of the deed are required.

B. Business Visa(F visa)
(1) A copy of hotel booking;
(2) A copy of outward and return flight ticket booking;
(3) An Invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit or a Confirmation letter of Invitation issued by an authorized unit in China (An Invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit or a Confirmation letter of Invitation refers to the letter issued by the Chinese government departments, companies and social organizations authorized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. For detailed information, please consult the foreign affairs office of the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government where your host is located. An Invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit or a Confirmation letter of Invitation should include full name and passport number of the invitee as well as the purpose and duration of the visit, and should be used within 6 months since its issuing date)
(4) Covering letter from applicant's company or office. If not available, other documents may be required.
(5) Applicants applying for short-term study in China should also provide:
a. Admission Notice (original and copy);
b. Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW-201/JW-202, original and copy, which indicates the period of study being less than 6 months).

Supplementary Instructions for the applicants who can not provide the Invitation letter from the Duly Authorized Units in China :
(1) Invitation letter of other forms should be original and contain the following information: Personal information of the invitees: name and surname, gender, date of birth, passport number etc.; Travelling information of the invitees: travelling purpose, date of arrival and departure, places to be visited, relationship with the inviter, cost sources etc.; Information of the inviters: name and surname, contact number and address, signatures etc.
(2)Supplementary materials: Identity documents of the inviters: copies of the identity card, passport, visa or residence permit; A copy of round trip flight ticket booking, hotel reservation, specific visiting schedules, medical and life insurance during the stay in China, certificate of bank deposit and incomings etc.; Travel expenses guarantee certificate or financial guarantee materials, the guarantee amount is 100 USD per person per day, and the guarantee period shall be consistent to the duration of the invitees' stay in China; In case the inviter is a company or tourist agency, besides all the materials that are mentioned above, applicants will be requested to submit an original invitation letter which bears the company's or the agency's official seal and its legal person's signature, and a copy of business license.

C. Student Visa (X visa)
(1) JW-201 or JW-202 form issued by the Ministry of Education of China(Original and copy);
(2) Admission Notice(Original and copy);
(3) A Physical Examination Record for Foreigner filled out and signed by a doctor (together with their copies). (Please download from the embassy's website.)

D. Work visa(Z visa)
(1) Employment Approval Documents(Please refer to consular office for further information);

E. Journalist Visa (J-visa)
(1)Applicants for J-1 visa (resident journalist) should provide a visa notification form issued by the Information Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry (the media employing the journalist should apply for the visa notification form from the Information Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry). His or her accompanying family members need to provide certificate(s) to prove their status as dependants of the journalist.
(2)Applicants for J-2 visa (journalists visiting China for temporary news coverage) should provide a visa notification issued by competent Chinese authorities.

F. Transit Visa (G-visa)
(1)A copy of hotel booking;
(2)A copy of outward and return flight ticket booking;
(3)A valid visa for the country of destination.

Visa Tips

1. Please apply for a visa about one month in advance of your intended date of entry into China.
2. The visa application form should be fully filled in and signed by the applicant upon completion. Items which are not applicable should be filled in with N/A.
3. Consular officers may request an applicant to provide additional supporting documents when called for. The applicant should provide this as soon as possible.
4. Whether a visa is to be issued, and what type of visa to be issued, and the visa's period of validity, duration of stay and number of entry shall be decided by Consular officers in the light of China's relevant laws and regulations.
